A LONG WAY FROM HOME
I was born and raised in Brig, Switzerland and in 1992 I finally followed a strong hunch I’d had for years and moved to the US. Having seen enough Baywatch, I knew I needed to live in California, so I started in San Diego and took English lessons at USIU… not too long, I was found at the beach talking to locals instead of repeating boring phrases in the stuffy classroom of the university. Well, today I can confidently say that I no longer have a noticable accent… thanks of course also to the great Robert Easton who I took two lessons from and learned quite a few tricks from. After all, he was Arnold Schwarzenegger’s voice coach!
After a few smaller roles and some background work on such shows as Melrose Place and Coach, I decided to venture into Production and soon developed the reality TV show concept ‘Hollywood Dreams’ with my writing partner Mike Boss. The concept was optioned by Paramount Television in 1998.
Today, I spent the majority of my time shooting actors, producing and directing films, documentaries and webisodes. My latest producing venture ‘Deface’ (www.defacemovie.com) has won the Austin Film Festival and has therefore qualified to be considered for an Academy Award in 2009.
My rich background in the Entertainment industry since 1992 as an actor, agent, director and producer informs and shapes my philosophy and approach to photography. There is much more to photographing animate subjects than style or technique …80% of my job is communication with the remaining 20% technical. Establishing a trusted relationship between myself and my client that translates to the camera is the critical backbone for best results. Guiding my clients through a process called Future’s Meeting* that provides a ‘safe space,’ for letting go of concerns and fears, actors are free to explore their inner emotional world in the present moment with confidence. I am committed to an actor’s growth and I highly respect and honor the sacred space we share during our shoot.
I prefer shooting outdoors in natural sunlight that reflects a warm glow to skin tone rather than the artificial lighting of the studio. My headshots therefore feel more like real life than like Hollywood glamor. I want my clients to have photos that represent them accurately, so when they walk into a casting office they visually fulfill the casting director’s expectations.
We are all hungry for personalized service, authentic communication and ‘keeping it real’ and that is exactly what I strive to give my clients each and every time…

See you soon
